Day 7 - 2017 Costa Rica Journal

Our drive from Villa Lapas to Hotel Bougainvillea isn’t until 1:00 this afternoon so after breakfast we spend our morning walking the grounds one last time and packing up.  After lunch our driver is right on time for our 2 hour drive to Hotel Bougainvillea.
Bougainvillea Plantings
This is our 3rd time to stay at this beautiful hotel.  This time we have a room with a balcony.
Our room.
View from our balcony.
We had been hearing stories of a volcano that was erupting in the area and causing some delays at the airport.
We didn't see any sign of ash in the hotel or on the grounds so they must have been doing a very good job of cleaning up.

Although the highly manicured grounds are not very appealing to birds, we did see some good birds on our afternoon walk.
Crimson-fronted Parakeets
Lesson's (formerly Blue-crowned) Motmot
Rufous-collared Sparrow
Hoffmann's Woodpecker
The next morning we just had time for breakfast and packing up before our driver came to take us to the Juan Santamaria Airport for our flight home.
