Back Story

A lot of people have commented that we look too young to be retired. Most of them have been too polite to actually ask our age!

So, since today is our 29th anniversary, I thought I would show some pictures and tell you a little bit about our past.

January 4, 1980 - our first date
January 4, 1983 - our wedding day
January 4, 2012 - our 29th anniversary

Way back in 1979, Mark and I were both working part time in the evenings at Sears Automotive (I was a cashier and Mark worked in the parts department). Mark was going to UT full time during the day and I had a full time state job during the day.

1980

Our first date was on January 4, 1980. A couple of years later we decided to get married after Mark graduated from UT.

When deciding on a wedding date we thought January 4th had been a very good day in the past, so, that’s the day we picked!

We were married in front of the JP on January 4, 1983.

We bought our first RV in October of 1998. Our second RV in March 2001, and our newest RV in December 2011. During that time we took many, many, many vacations!

We both retired on the same day (March 31, 2010) and have been having a wonderful time traveling around in our RV!

Here are a few pictures of our adventures! (Taken after we bought digital cameras).

Arizona

Trinidad, West Indies

Tobago, West Indies

Belize City, Belize

Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah

Canopy Tower, Panama

Costa Rica

Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

Ecuador

Big Bend National Park, Texas

Crater Lake, Oregon

Sky Pond
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Costa Rica

Magee Marsh, Ohio

I had a lot of fun looking back at all our pictures. It was really hard to pick just a few. One of these days we'll have to get our "before digital" photos scanned. Hope you have enjoyed our trip back in time.

  3. Even I didn't know your wedding date! Of course, as I recall, none of us were invited . . . Wow, the early pics (especially) were cool. A blast from the past, right? Had no idea Jan. 4 was such a big date for you two. Congrats on 29 years of marriage. That's a big milestone compared to, say, Kim Kardashian (for example)! ;-)
